Working with trauma requires knowledge, skill and courage. From trauma-informed to trauma-skilled: this basic course is a must for every social worker.
Contents: Must-Have Knowledge of Trauma
Part 1: What is trauma: definitions and symptoms. Neurobiology of trauma. Friend, Face, Fight, Flight, Freeze, Flop, Faint, Fawn, Follow, Fragment. Time course of trauma. Types of trauma.
Part 2: The big difference: PTSD and C-PTSD. Attachment: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The three big factors: Sense of Belonging, Sense of Self and WoT. Comorbidity and differences with stress, grief and exhaustion.
Part 3: From demand to mandate: anamnesis, basic frameworks, working relationship, initial interventions. The 3-phase discussion: Stabilize, Confront, Integrate. Informed-consent, helicopter view.
Part 4: From overwhelm and avoidance to voluntary confrontation: basic interventions. Trauma and resilience. Daring, doing and (redirecting).
Once you have completed this basic training, you will be ready for the Trauma Skills Training 🙂 .

All counselors working in the trauma field: medical and paramedical personnel, crisis counselors, psychologists, therapists, counselors, social workers and coaches.
